A Fair Future For Our Care Assistants

Recruitment in the care industry often comes with numerous challenges, making it a constant uphill battle for employers. One of the primary struggles is the shortage of qualified candidates.

The demand for care services is consistently high, driven by an aging population and increased need for healthcare support. However, there is a limited pool of individuals with the necessary skills, experience, and qualifications to fill these roles.

What do we do?

Along with our recruitment process being extremely easy, quick, and well communicated, our induction and training process is also something that leaves you feeling confident and comfortable starting care.

In the coming month of April 2024, we are raising our pay rates for our carers, allowing them to feel valued and paid for their hard work and dedication, this is our commitment to showing our carers that their hard work does not go unnoticed.

  • We pay you fairly
  • We reward you for hard work
  • Our recruitment process is easy and straight forward
  • We have benefits (an additional £400 earned in the first three months of employment)
  • We listen to you, arranging monthly carer drop in sessions
  • Our training is thorough and detailed, leaving you feeling motivated to start care

We, at Bluebird Care want to remove the stereotype and provide a fair future for our Care Assistants.

The action we have taken

We understand that working in care is not always smooth sailing and constant so we have implemented something that allows our care assistants to be valued for their time.

We're introducing dummy calls so that our carers get paid for all the time they spend waiting between calls, even if there aren't any active customers. Our carers time matters, and we want to make sure they're compensated for it. They will be paid at a rate of £11.44 per hour. There may be times where this dummy call is replaced with another active customer, in the event of carer sickness in the business, for example. In these circumstances, the care assistant would be paid the contact time rate of £12.50 per hour and not the £11.44 per hour.

  • Care Assistants will receive payment at £11.44 for all travel between customer calls (excludes travel to and from home)
  • Where a customer on your run goes into hospital, you will continue to be paid for this call.

You can have a fair future

We understand the care industry is taboo and can have a negative connotation, but we want to remove the stereotype and show how well appreciated our care assistants are.

Joining our team of dedicated care assistants here at Bluebird Care will enable you to have a fresh start and prove to yourself that a career in care can be fair, enjoyable, and rewarding. Often you are blinded by the positives when working in care because of the emotional, mental, and physical draining, but at Bluebird Care we are here to show, that this is not the case…

In essence, recruitment in the care industry is characterised by a perfect storm of challenges and we want to remove that stereotype and show that we care.

We, at Bluebird Care want to take a stand to provide a fair future for our carers, does that sound like something you want to be a part of?
