Will I need previous experience of providing care and support?

Care experience is useful, but not always necessary for care assistants as we provide full training over 5days which is classroom based and all this time is paid for along with any other subsequent mandatory training. 

We look for people that are passionate about caring for others and wanting to make a difference to peoples lives along with being kind and empathetic with a drive to help others.

Do I need to drive to be a care assistant?

Yes you do need to drive will a full driving licence and access to a car to be a Home Care Assistant. However if you looking to join us as a live-in care assistant this is not essential.

We deliver care in the community with some of our customers living in quite rural areas it is essential that you drive. You will need business insurance on your vehicle as required by law.

What are the main types of job roles at Bluebird Care?

There are eight main job roles here at Bluebird Care:

  • Care assistant and live-in care assistant
  • Coordinator
  • Customer supervisor
  • Care assistant supervisor
  • Administrator
  • Finance manager
  • Recruitment manager
  • Registered care manager

These job roles may vary according to the size of the business. A small, new business may only have a manager, coordinator and a team of care assistants. 

What hours do I have to work as a care assistant?

We deliver care to our customers between 7am & 10pm 365 days of the year. 

It is preferred you have a 7am or 10pm finish but not essential, however all our care assistants are required to alternate weekends. 

What ongoing training does Bluebird Care provide?

We have an amazing Career Pathway which all of our staff use to grow and develop including fully funded QCF 2, 3 and 5. 100% of our current office team have used this to build their careers and continue to do so. 

All our staff receive regular supervision and ongoing training to enhance their existing skills and learn new ones. This is supplemented by routine annual refresher training.

Topics depend upon the services provided by and the specific needs of our customers. This could include -

  • Dementia and other specific medical conditions such as multiple sclerosis, motor neurone disease, strokes, Parkinson's and end of life care
  • Learning disabilities

What types of homecare services does Bluebird Care offer?

We support customers with all aspects of their day to day living, so they can enjoy the best possible quality of life. Each service is tailored to meet each customer’s requirements.

Visits can range from a fortnightly service to once or more daily, right through to overnight or live-in care.

What will be expected of me as a care assistant?

Being part of the Bluebird Care team is rewarding and gives great job satisfaction, but it also demands commitment and professionalism.

To be a Bluebird Care care assistant, it is essential you genuinely care for others and have good communication skills, especially when listening to customers. Wanting to find out more and to problem solve are key.

You need to understand what the role of a care assistant entails and be able to follow instructions.
