What type of training do I need to be a carer?

There is no official training certification that we require you to have before becoming one of our care assistants. At Bluebird Care, our main requirements are that you are a caring individual who is responsible and compassionate; so if that’s you, we would love for you to join our team!

If you have previous experience and have undergone training as a care assistant, that will be beneficial. However, our main priority is to find hardworking individuals who are passionate and dedicated to putting a smile on our customers’ faces.

Induction training

Before officially joining our team, we provide extensive training to become a carer through a mandatory induction course to ensure that you are suitable for the role and show that you can do the job to the best of your ability.

We will teach you everything you need to deliver a world-class care service. We have various care assistant roles available to you, so whether it’s domiciliary care or full-time live-in care, your induction will cover the correct protocol to ensure that you are experienced and ready to take on this role.

Specialised training

If you are looking to become a specialist in a specific area of care, such as dementia care, then additional training will be required, as this is role that requires a deeper knowledge and skillset to provide effective care as well as support for our care team.

Should you wish to undertake this training, we can provide support to help you achieve this through our care assistant benefits package.

We offer all of our care assistants an individual training budget as part of our benefits package once they have passed their probation period, which includes a number of paid hours each year to use on personal and professional development. This can be used to get the training experience in the specialised area that you want to work in, and help you further your career.
