Meet our team of care professionals

Shabir Hussain
Chief Executive

Bluebird Care Calderdale is led by Shabir Hussain. Shabir started delivering homecare in Calderdale to help support customers in the area to receive homecare and support while remaining in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes. Delivering the highest quality of homecare and support is Shabir’s absolute goal and the team would be delighted to hear from anyone who is seeking homecare for themselves or for a loved one, or would simply like to talk to someone about the services we provide.

Making a contribution in the local community has been my personal aim both in paid employment and as a volunteer.

Before Bluebird Care I worked for a housing charity for over 16 years. Giving a house to a family living in unsuitable housing/ bed and breakfast is hugely satisfying. The impact it has on the whole family is immeasurable and impossible to describe - especially the difference it makes to children's lives.

Just as with the housing charity; the care Bluebird Care provides has a huge impact on our customers' lives. Bluebird Care provides care that I would want for my own mother, father or family members.

Bluebird Care employs colleagues who are passionate about providing care. We empower them through good training and by giving them freedom to make decisions.

Bluebird Care customers maintain their independence because they have complete control of the care they receive.

Outside of Bluebird Care I do voluntary work for:

  • Rotary – as a member I help to fundraise for local good causes as well as helping at local events.

  • Venture Housing Association – housing associations make a huge difference in their local communities. I am a Board Member and Chair of Corporate Services Committee.

  • Halifax Opportunities Trust – this is local redevelopment agency. It provides support to local businesses, delivers employment initiatives as well as training designed to increase people’s skills and confidence to find employment. I am a Trustee of the charity.

Nothing could have prepared me for the experience of visiting and caring for my cousin. The sheer pressure of dealing with dementia was at times overwhelming especially so for his main carer his wife. Having had this first-hand experience, I now get enormous satisfaction from being able to provide practical help and assistance for our customers and their relatives.

Gail does very well and ensures that the customers are provided with quality care workers and have the calls they want at a time they need.
