Meet our team of care professionals

David Cowan
Franchise Owner

Bluebird Care Liverpool is owned and managed by David Cowan. Born and raised in the city, David studied at the University of Liverpool for five years, leaving in 1993 with a Masters’ degree.

He subsequently spent much of the 1990s working in France and Germany before returning to the UK and spending five years in London as UK & Ireland General Manager for a large international organisation. He brings a wealth of professional management experience to Bluebird Care Liverpool.

Now, after more than five years of delivering care, David is proud of the work the team does delivering care across the city each and every day. He believes that everyone should always receive the highest level of care and remains committed to Bluebird Care Liverpool continuing to meet those standards.

Alison Holden
Operations Manager

Alison has worked in the care industry in Liverpool for over thirty years in many different settings: she worked in schools supporting children with complex needs, disabilities and behavioural problems; hospitals and nursing homes; and as a support worker looking after adults with disabilities in their own homes.

With her wealth of knowledge and expertise, Alison is a most valuable member of the team. Joining Bluebird Care (Liverpool) in April 2015, Alison quickly progressed to Supervisor and then Care Manager for three years before becoming Operations Manager. She remains the Registered Manager for the business.

Alison has also been the main carer for older family members, so she understands fully the challenges that families face when considering care for a loved one. Her philosophy is to treat people the way she would treat her own family.

Suzanne Jones
Care Manager

Suzanne was born in Wavertree and initially worked as a tailor before starting a family. In time Suzanne became the main carer for both of her parents and this ultimately inspired her to choose a career in care.

Suzanne joined the Bluebird Care (Liverpool) team as a Care Assistant in 2017 and quickly progressed to Supervisor, supporting both customers and care staff in the field. Her progression continued and she more recently made the transition to Care Manager.

Suzanne is a warm, friendly member of our team with genuine care and empathy for others. She says, “I love my job. I get so much from working with our staff and supporting our customers. I feel we create a bond with them and their families and are making a real difference to their lives.”

Michelle Mulligan

Michelle brings a wealth of experience to her role as Supervisor. Growing up in Kirkby, she has worked as a medical secretary, a PA for people with brain injuries, a support worker, and has also volunteered with the ambulance service at Aintree Hospital.

Joining Bluebird Care (Liverpool) as a Care Assistant in July 2019 she made the transition to Supervisor by December 2019. She has risen to the challenge, demonstrating her ability to provide excellent support to others.

Michelle enjoys helping others and making a difference to people’s lives. She is happy to work with staff who she says regularly go above and beyond to deliver the best possible care.
