Bluebird Care (Canterbury & Thanet) was opened in November 2007 by Mother and daughter team Christine and Saffron Hudson.
They both come with a strong background in social care and bring commitment to excellence in customer care.
Christine is a qualified social worker who began her career in the care sector in 1979. As a social worker and manager, she has worked with children and families as well as elderly persons, adults with learning and/or physical disabilities and people with mental heath problems.
Saffron gained experience in customer care, sales and administration before beginning her social care career in 1988. She has worked in residential, day care and community settings providing care and support to adults with mental health problems, adults with sensory impairments, adults with learning and/or physical disabilities and children and families. An honours graduate, she holds qualifications in Training and Development, including NVQ assessing, and NLP.
In 1994 they set up a specialist social care training and consultancy business, providing services to local authorities and private and voluntary sector customers, which became Elect Partnership Ltd. in 1997.
Together with their management team, they’ve built up a first class reputation since opening Bluebird Care Canterbury and Thanet in 2007. Their ethos is to provide the same standards of care to customers as they would want for their own families.
Frances Atherden joined us as a part time Care Assistant in 2010. During her time with us, she has gone from strength to strength and been promoted through several roles culminating in becoming our Registered Care Manager.
Frances is a kind and caring individual who is passionate about the work she does, in whatever role she is in. Her understanding of care provision and the needs of our customers is second to none.
Lauren first came to us as a Care Assistant in early 2018 with a BTEC Diploma in Health and Social Care as well as experience of community care.
With her sound knowledge of care and a great attitude we quickly spotted her potential. Her work with our customers has always been first rate and this led to her being promoted to Field Care Supervisor and then to Support Coordinator and now to her role as Coordinator. Lauren is a friendly voice on the end of a telephone and always goes the extra mile to help our customers. She mainly works on staff rotas and making sure our customers get their visits as required. However, she can also turn her hand to assessing customers’ needs and supervising care staff. Like all our staff, Lauren updates her training regularly.
Isabel initially joined us as in 2012 as Care Supervisor, bringing with her the experience of having many years’ experience of managing residential care homes.
On joining us, Isabel had a NVQ Level 4 in Health & Social Care and Registered Manager’s Award: she has kept her training up to date by doing numerous short courses.
On reaching retirement age Isabel decided she wanted to continue working but reduce her hours. She became part time Deputy Manager in 2016. As time has gone on, her role has evolved, and her main responsibilities now are administration and finance.
Isabel is the person who makes sure all our customers and care staff receive birthday cards. She’s our ‘Christmas fairy; decorating our office, sending out all the Christmas cards and wrapping all our care staff’s Christmas presents.
Jessica joined the team in 2018 after working as a Senior Carer in a residential care home for 5 years. Prior to that Jess had worked as a teaching assistant in a primary School. She holds Level 2 & 3 qualifications in Health and Social Care (Adults) as well as Level 2 in Health & Social Care for Children.
She has since achieved additional qualifications in training and is our approved trainer in Basic Life Support and Moving and Handling People. As Recruitment and Training Coordinator, Jess sees all new staff through the recruitment process and helps to support them through their first weeks of employment.
She is responsible for ensuring that all our staff have the training they need to provide outstanding care, whether this is undertaking our many in house short courses or an external qualification. With her friendly and outgoing personality, Jess brings energy and enthusiasm into all she does, including organising fundraising events and representing the company at recruitment fairs.
Kurtis Atherden joined our team as our Admin apprentice in June 2016 after doing 2 weeks work experience with us. A year later, having completed his apprenticeship and Level 2 qualification in Business Administration, he joined our team permanently as Administrator.
Kurtis has now completed his Level 3 qualification and continues to go from strength to strength. As the only man in the office Kurtis is loved by customers and staff alike for his kind nature, willingness to help others and sense of humour. Kurtis has been Santa at our Christmas social, an Elf for Alzheimer’s Elf Day and a fairy in a pink tutu for Breast Cancer Awareness.
