Being a part of our dedicated Bluebird Care team is immensely rewarding, but it also demands commitment and professionalism. Working with some of the most vulnerable members of society can give enormous satisfaction to the right person. Meet our team of care professionals

Melvyn Plum
Director

My journey with Bluebird Care started when my Father was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. I was working as a Senior Social worker for Essex County Council and thought it would be a simple task to find a quality care company to support both my father and mother at our family home in Tendring. Unfortunately, this was not the case and proved to be a very difficult task.

During my search for a company that cared for its customers and shared my values I found Bluebird Care, however its services were not provided in the Tendring area. My experience and difficulty with finding the right provider made me realise how significantly I wanted to make a positive difference in the community to help and support people in their own homes and deliver the quality of care they deserve.

In March 2010 Bluebird Care Colchester & Tendring first opened its offices in Wivenhoe providing care across the Tendring and Colchester areas. Since 2010 the company has grown vastly and is continuing to do so, now providing care throughout North East Essex. We are committed to our customers and our staff, many of which have been with us from the beginning.

“Would this be what I would want for my family?” This question is something that is imbedded in our team’s values and drives them to provide the best possible care to our customers. Our mission statement since the first day has been “we aim to set standards of excellence and innovation for the care we provide our customers and for the training and support we give to our staff” and this still remains at the heart of the business.

If you would like to speak to me about home care please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Becky Dixon
Deputy Manager

I have worked at Bluebird Care for several years, and began as a Care Assistant in 2016, and worked across all areas of Care, I have been a Care Assistant since 1997. I trained in the Clinical and Mental Health teams, and worked in the Mary Poppins team too. I have also worked as part of the Support Worker Team, and in 2019 I was promoted to Assistant Carer Support and worked closely with the Lead Carer Support. When the role of Supervisor became available in 2020 I was then promoted into this role before my most recent promotion to Deputy Manager at the start of 2022.

I am very active outside of work, and enjoy going to the gym every morning, as well as playing football regularly and generally enjoy being outside and exploring different places. I have a lovely family, who I spend a lot of time with.

I love being busy, and staying in touch with the customers and Care team that I support. For me it's very important to stay connected to the team, so I have a good relationship and can resolve any concerns quickly.

Mandy Cook
Care Coordinator

Mandy joined the team in early 2022.

Lisa Adams
Senior Care Assistant

Lisa was promoted to the role of Senior Care Assistant in early 2022.

Mark Walker
Marketing Manager

I graduated university in 2015 with a degree in Marketing and have been dotted around Suffolk and Essex ever since doing creative and IT roles. I am new to the care sector – but I can’t wait to get to know more about care and show off all the great work that the carers and our team do.  I love to be creative and enjoy doing that with all things digital and hope to continue that here at Bluebird Care.

Outside of work I am a massive Ipswich Town fan, so I’ll regularly be down at Portman Road as a season ticket holder, I love to watch any sport really. I like to be active and try to spend as much of my time outside exploring with my partner. Our recent fascination is stand-up paddle boarding, so we will be trying to get out on the water as often as we can … trying our best not to fall in!
