I qualified as an Adult Nurse in 1984, and Paediatric Nurse in 1986. Later in my career I completed an additional course in 1991 in Intensive Care Nursing of Children. Since qualifying in 1984 I have worked in Great Ormond Street Hospital, and various children’s hospitals across the country, as well as adult intensive care units, child intensive care units, and A&E departments in fast paced hospitals, and on specialist wards such as the coronary care wards, and spinal surgery wards.
The highlight of my Nursing Career before moving to the private sector was the year, I spent in Australia working in Adult and Children Intensive Care Units. One of the best things about working as a Nurse is the ability to travel and help people all over the world, and experience different medical techniques and standards in different areas of the world.
In 2014 I left NHS nursing for the private sector and joined Bluebird Care in 2017 as the Clinical Lead. The 35+ years in Nursing across various specialities enables me to provide specialist and on-going training to our Care team in Clinical activities, and work alongside the Supervisors to support Customers with complex care needs to stay within their home.
I have three children, my youngest is training to be a doctor and my two daughters also work at Bluebird Care in different roles. It’s been lovely to watch them grow into kind and compassionate people that have the same passion for high quality Care that I have.
