Meet the team

Cheryl joined Bluebird in 2019, bringing with her 30 years valuable experience of working in the domiciliary care sector.

Cheryl started her working life as a care worker and has worked in and managed a variety of different settings. 

Bluebird Care South Gloucestershire is owned and run by Sophie and Jack Whitfield. Jack and Sophie bring with them a range of experience in business, finance and customer service, with the focus of their business always being on putting the customer first.

Jack grew up in South Gloucestershire and so has a great understanding of the local community and the people within it. Like many others, Jack and Sophie first came across the care industry when members of their families started to need a helping hand. 

It made them realise what a profound difference good quality care can make to someone’s life. They decided to put together a team to provide care to a standard that they would be happy with for their own family and friends.

When not working, Jack can usually be found fishing or playing cricket. Together, Sophie and Jack enjoy going for walks with their dogs, Pablo and Indy.

Suresh joined us in May 2022 as our Business Development Manager. He brings a wealth of experience in the care sector, specialising in securing, developing and nurturing ew care packages.

"It’s a pleasure being part of the Bluebird family as Business Development Manager for such an outstanding organisation with fantastic ethics and I’m looking forward to learning and achieving together."

Kelly is our Senior Team Leader. She started out with us a Care Worker in 2018 and progressed to Team Leader in 2020.

"I have worked for the company for 4 years and love my job. Outside of work, I like to bake and spend time with my family."

Michelle joined Bluebird in August 2020, doing domicillary care in the community, which she thoroughly enjoyed.

Whilst working in the community, she studied for an NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care and passed.

She has been working as a care coordinator since September 2021.

"It is is a very rewarding role and I'm happy to be part of providing visits to our service users. I am now studying for my NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care."

Cathy joined our Recruitment Department in March 2020. This meant she had to work from home in the beginning. This didn't stop her though and she continues to bring in new care staff on a weekly basis.

Katy is the Accounts Manager here at Bluebird and joined in February 2019.

Predominantly, Katy pays all the suppliers in a timely manner, prepares and invoices healthcare bodies, pays debts as they are due, oversees the issue of customer invoices and ensures receivables are collected promptly, records cash, online and cheque receipts, makes bank deposits, processes the monthly payroll and assembles year end information for the external auditors.

Outside of work, Katy enjoys netball in the Glos Prem League.

She has 2 children who are both very sporty, so her free time is spent watching them, usually from a cold, wet and windy sideline!

Chibwe joined us in May 2022.

Chibwe has just over two years previous experience in care.

"I'm so grateful to be part of such an amazing organisation that has a fantastic culture. I'm looking forward to learning and working alongside the team."

Amy joined Bluebird Care in 2019 as a care worker in our domiciliary section.

She then moved into the specialist team and is now a Team Leader.

"I have been working with Bluebird for over 2 years now and after all the great support I have received, I am very happy to have been able to progress my career to Team Leader in doing what I love!"

Andy is our business and office support assistant.

Lauren has recently joined the office team as a team leader, having worked for us at South Gloucestershire Bluebird as a care worker.

Agnes is our in-house trainer and mentor for all new staff. She started her career at Bluebird Care South Gloucestershire as a care assistant in 2020 and had no previous experience in the industry. She was promoted in 2023 to become a Training and Mentoring Officer. She is responsible for training and mentoring new staff and seeing them through their probation period. She also delivers annual refresher training to our existing staff team.

Zoe has been a valued member of our care team since early 2021, and has since been appointed as our care worker ambassador for South Gloucestershire, supporting the wider care team and enabling positive change.
