Working with Bluebird Care has taught me about team work and how to make my approach suit each individual customer and their needs. Customer focus is at the centre of everything we do here and that gives me great job satisfaction.
I really enjoy working for Bluebird Care because there’s nothing nicer than seeing my customers happy and contented at the end of my visits. I know that working with Bluebird Care I can give a quality service and that makes a huge difference to someone’s day, which is rewarding not just for me but for the customer - When customers are happy I’m happy!

John says;
My name is John and I have been working for Bluebird Care for nearly three and a half years. I have previously had a few different jobs, most of which were spent in the banking profession, and in all of my previous jobs I had received accolades for excellence. The reason I joined Bluebird Care was because of the enthusiasm and professionalism of the management team, and the opportunity for variety and the chance to make a real difference to people’s lives. Bluebird Care makes a real difference to people’s lives.  Bluebird Care enables me to do this by the support they give me, their approachability and by providing regular customers. This not only benefits the customer but also me as we are then able to form a good rapport and trust which is important to vulnerable people. The follow are a few examples of the people I see, their needs and their achievements:

AB:
AB is a retired gentleman who lives with his wife who is also his carer. AB has dementia and is no longer able to walk and support his weight. I help him to get washed and dressed and use a hoist and transfer him to his chair. When I first met AB he was very unresponsive and not able to move his legs unaided. Now with my help and encouragement his is able to lift his legs when getting dressed and we are able to have more lucid conversations - we always start the day with a smile! Not only has AB improved beyond recognition but also his wife has someone whom she can rely upon for both practical and emotional support.

MA:
MA is a single middle aged man with learning difficulties who has spent a lot of his life in institutional settings. Due to his lack of confidence he is vulnerable to exploitation and like a lot of people with his difficulties has been taken advantage of in the past. He lives in his own flat, and when I first met him he was unemployed, living off frozen meals and his flat was a scene of chaos. My job was to help him with his mail and with his shopping, and now, after over two years, MA has a job, only buys fresh produce and cooks his own meals. He does voluntary work and has a clean and tidy flat of which he is very proud. Although much of this is down to MAs desire to improve, it would not have been possible without my support and encouragement.

DM:
DM is a single lady in her late sixties with learning difficulties who is unable to read or write and uses a walking stick as a support.  I assist DM with her finances, her shopping trips and her social interactions. We go to the supermarket together and we go out to lunch as DM hates eating alone. DM belongs to a weekly social club; and now, with my support she goes into town on her own, knows a lot of people and smiles and laughs a lot. These are real improvements to real people’s lives.

So as you can see no two people are the same and thanks to the support and recognition of the Bluebird Care team I am provided with a rewarding and satisfying job.
