They say ‘home is where the heart is’ and we at Bluebird Care keep our customers safe and cared for in theirs.

More people than ever are choosing to receive care at home, but what makes them choose Bluebird Care?

Our staff members are the face of our company and it’s our care teams that enable our customers to stay in the comfort of their own homes. Our teams provide vital care and support as well as building and growing relationships, bringing smiles to the faces of our customers, laughing, sharing experiences, listening to stories and sometimes wiping away tears.

Being a part of our dedicated Bluebird Care team is immensely rewarding, but it also demands commitment and professionalism. Working with some of the most vulnerable members of society can give enormous satisfaction to the right person. It offers the opportunity to make a real difference to people’s lives; a vocation rather than just a job.

Meet our team of care professionals

Nicola Witt
Director

Nicola comes to the Care profession having worked as a Solicitor for over 20 years. In her role as a Solicitor she was able to see at first hand how the lives of people could be enhanced significantly with the right care provision being made and just as importantly how the wrong care could hold people back.

With Bluebird Care Dudley, Wyre Forest and Malvern Hills, she is able to put into practice what she has seen in her career as a Solicitor. Her time in the law also means that she has experience of running a business and a team of people, to ensure that everyone is working together to achieve the goal of providing excellent care.

Adrian Witt
Director and Senior Spider Wrangler

Adrian comes to the company having spent over 20 years in the legal profession as a Solicitor.

As well as years of experience as a solicitor he is quite tall, which can be useful in the office. He is also not afraid of spiders and he is therefore able to fulfil a vital office role; that of being able to go into the cupboard and to get unwanted spiders from the office. He can also handle a Daddy Long-Legs at the right time of the year.

Adrian can also make tea and coffee.

Every office should have one.

Rebecca Newton
Care Supervisor and Trainer

Rebecca is our Care Supervisor and Trainer. Her previous roles have been in management roles in the cosmetics industry, however, two years ago Becky was looking for a more rewarding career and so she moved into a career in care. She was quickly promoted into a supervisory role.

We were therefore thrilled when Becky joined us here at Bluebird Care Dudley. She has quickly established herself as an invaluable member of the team and her good humour and infectious laugh have become most welcome additions to the office.

Becky also does the induction and training for the company. Recently this has required the additional skill of having to deliver sessions via online platforms, but Becky has adapted to this and has shown that she is more than up to the task and so has been able to maintain the high quality of induction and training sessions that we have come to expect.

Becky says "I am passionate about providing high quality, person centered care, which enables customers to continue with their chosen lifestyles in their own homes. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with Bluebird so far and feel lucky to be a part of such a caring and fabulous team."

Katie Wilson
Care Co-ordinator

Katie first joined the team in December 2019 and demonstrated very quickly that she was a very dependable team member, showing real dedication and hard work in the field. Earlier this year therefore, when the business was expanding and looking for a Care Co-ordinator, Katie was one of a number of very strong candidates for the role.

She has settled into the office very well, despite the unususal circumstances that we face at the moment, but her enthusiasm and ability to pick up new things quickly more than make up for the comedy error of having posted a letter from the office, back to the office and so while it was the loss of the customers that she had been visiting, it was very much our gain in the office, when Katie joined the office team.

Adrian Witt, Director and Spider Wrangler, said "It is great having Katie in the office, although I was not prepared for the frequent demands on the stationery budget, but these have been a small price to pay for the benefit of having Katie with us in the office."

Rachel Bradley
Live In Care Manager

Rachel has a lot of experience of working in the care sector, having done so for 25 years.

During that time, she has seen many different aspects and areas of healthcare from dentistry to A&E, but it is in care in the home where her heart really lies. Once going into homecare, Rachel quickly progressed to the role of Registered Manager and she has done that for about 12 years. Her real passion within home care is live in care. The opportunity to allow people to stay in their own homes, even though their care needs are such that they need carer with them all of the time, is really the pinnacle as far as Rachel is concerned.

She says "There is nothing better than being able to keep someone safe and happy in their own home, surrounded by their own things, and to live as independently as possible, being able to make their own choices and own decisions.

This support also extends to family who do not have to worry about their loved ones, as they know they are safe."

Outside of work, Rachel, like the rest of the office, is a cat lover and she and her husband help to foster and rehome cats. Rachel is also keen on music, with 90's indie being her favourite. Can't fault her for that, so, if you wonder(wall)ing about the possibilities for live in care, don't look back in anger, but instead speak to our very own supersonic, rock and roll star Rachel. (See what I did there?)

Kira the Giraffe
Giraffe

Kira was born at Dudley Zoo in September 2019 and joined the team in the summer of 2020.

Given the low ceilings in the office, Kira prefers to stay at the zoo, with her mum and dad, but is happy to welcome customers, staff and their families to the zoo when they come to pay her a visit. We are corporate sponsors of Kira at the zoo and so staff and their families have access to the company ticket whenever they want.

Kira fulfils the vital role in the team of being the official Bluebird Care Dudley giraffe. She has also taken over as the tallest member of the team.
