Meet our team of care professionals

Sue Manickam
Operations Head / Director

Sue Manickam provides strong, strategic leadership to Bluebird Care so we can provide the best homecare services. Efficiently manages the day to day running of the business. Allocate resources and monitor performance to deliver high quality homecare to customers within budget. Manages all aspects of the staff team and provide sound leadership to ensure staff are clear about their respective duties and responsibilities and have the support they need to carry out their roles safely.

Sue has worked as a Senior Physiotherapist as various NHS setups for 10 years. She has worked in various departments such as acute health, rapid response team and intermediate care setting and community services in UK NHS. In acute hospitals she has the experience in working closely with hospital discharge teams and rapid response team. She also has the experience in working closely with the various consultants, OTs, Nurses, social workers, health care assistants and all these experience has helped her role in Bluebird Care.

Sue’s personal target is to put all of her skills, knowledge and experience to ensuring Bluebird Care Birmingham East provides the highest standards of care to all our customers, both current and future, delivered by our friendly and dedicated team of professional care workers and office staff.

Debbie Morris
Registered Manager - Birmingham East and North

Debbie Morris - Regestered Manager - Birmingham East and North

Hi, I am Debbie, as the Registered manager, I’m responsible for overseeing the quality of care across the branch and live-in care teams. My aim is to ensure the delivery of the highest standards of care through tailored, person-centred care plans that offer outcome-focused delivery through dedicated, expertly-skilled care teams.”

Career Pathway

I began my career within the care sector in 2003 and remained in the care industry ever since. I began my career as a monitoring review officer for a large Domiciliary provider, meeting all customers and gaining feedback to the care being provided, I found the role rewarding and enjoyed meeting people from all different walks of life.

After being in the reviewing officer role for three months I decided this was my chosen career path

"With a wealth of care experience in both managerial and carer roles, Debbie has worked closely with a variety of different conditions including dementia, Parkinson’s, and general elderly care, among many others. Followed by a Level 5 in Leadership & Management."

Qualifications and Professional Development

As well as having many years of practical experience in the industry, Debbie has also gained a range of additional qualifications in order to increase her knowledge further within the care sector.

Desislava Markova
Lead Care Assistant

Desi, Joined us in March 2018 is one of our Lead Care Assistant. She has been shortlisted as a finalist for the Category - The Home Care Worker Award under Great British Care Awards 2020

Desi has also completed her NVQ 3 in Oct 2020

Desi  - “I work for Bluebird Care since 2018, I have always wanted to work in a job where I can help people and I received this opportunity. After 1 year working with Bluebird Care they offered me to start my NVQ 3, which I am almost finished. To appreciate my hard work, they made me Lead Care Assistant. I know this job is not rocket science, but by the end of the day I know all the service users will be safe and independent as much as possible”

Amanda Powell
Lead Care Assistant

Amanda, Joined us in May 2019 as a Care Assistant, now she has been promoted as a Lead Care Assistant. She has been shortlisted as a finalist for the Category - The Home Care Worker Award under Great British Care Awards 2020.

Nassrat Bi
Lead Care Assistant

Naz, Joined us in Nov 2018 as a Care Assistant, promoted as a Lead Care Assistant.

- Nassrat won the prestigious ‘Individual Home Care Hero’ award at the Home Care Heroes Awards 2020

- Finalist for Bluebird Care’s National Covid-Hero Award for Supporting Customers Throughout the Covid-19     Pandemic

- She has been shortlisted as a finalist for the Category - The Home Care Worker Award under Great British     Care Awards 2020.

Joanne Hodgson
Care Coordinator

My name is Joanne Hodgson, most people call me Jo, I started working in health & Social care about 10years ago and have never looked back, I started in a role of care worker for a large Domiciliary Company, which still allowed the flexibility to look after my mother who had been diagnosed with vascular dementia. I carried out several jobs whilst my children were young, but never one so rewarding as caring for people and making a difference along the way. My knowledge and commitment to caring for people from all walks of life gave me the confidence to take to a higher level and was quickly promoted to senior carer mainly dealing with staff and customers daily.  I have also recently obtained my Level 5 in Health & Social care. My new role as a care coordinator with Bluebird Care, is a position where I feel I am now able to put my Skills into practice and make a huge difference.
