Job description

Bluebird Care is one of the UK’s leading providers of private Care at Home. We are looking for an in-house Training Manager to to join our thriving group which provides a high-quality and much-needed service to vulnerable people all over Sevenoaks, Bromley and SE London.

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about education and believes in giving people the opportunity to better themselves through CPD. We need a highly-motivated, energetic and organised person who can manage and prioritise their own workload; and work effectively independently as well as part of a team.

Duties

  • Create and deliver the training program for the business, ensuring it stays up-to-date with the changes to the law, CQC, HSE and NICE best practice guidelines
  • Plan, prepare and deliver induction and any other required training for all new starters, annual refresher training for the Care and Office teams
  • Prepare bespoke training sessions for detailed important topics such as End of Life, Dementia
  • Draw upon a range of training methods (eLearning, powerpoint, research activities, role play, presentations, practical, field-based, etc) to suit differing learnings needs to ensure the adoption of best care practice from day 1, to keep their skills and knowledge up to date and to continue their professional development
  • Ensure all training in delivered in line with Company Policies & Procedures and Brand Values, including equality, diversity and inclusion
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programmes; provide reports to the registered manager and franchise owner; make sure learning methods are cost effective and make improvements where necessary.
  • Assist line managers to solve specific training requirements either on a one to one or group basis; play a proactive role where individual additional training needs are identified
  • Build positive working relationships with colleagues and other professionals with whom you come into contact (e.g. DN’s, OT’s, etc)
  • Liaise with the management team to evaluate the ongoing effectiveness of our training to ensure a cycle of continuous improvement
  • Maintain accurate and up to date records relating to L&D in staff files
  • Keep own practice and knowledge up to date through research, meetings and attending courses.
  • Be prepared to work flexibly on an individual basis and as part of team.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills including computer literacy. Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience of the Social Care sector (preferably 2 years or more) and an excellent understanding of how to deliver safe and effective care to customers at home
  • Good knowledge of legal responsibilities and national standards in relation to home care and support and how to apply these in practice. A clear understanding of customer rights
  • A teaching/training qualification (see below) and specific Train-the-Trainer certificates for Manual handling, Safeguarding, Medication Administration, Basic Life Support, Emergency First Aid at Work
  • Experience of planning, designing and delivering staff learning programmes. Proven ability to support the learning and development of staff and to evaluate competencies
  • Ability to work as part of a team and to lead others
  • Understanding of systems to maintain confidentiality in relation to customers, staff and the business
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines

Mandatory Requirements

  • Must hold a valid Driving Licence and have access to a vehicle
  • Be able to work across 3 offices, Bromley, Sevenoaks, Lewisham & Southwark
  • 2 years minimum working in the Health & Social Care sector
  • Hold a valid Training Qualification: Either: PTLLS/CTLLS/DTTLS/Train the Trainer in Health and Social Care Topics.
