Waking Night Care Assistant - Crantock

Apply for this role

Waking Night Care Assistant — Crantock

Bluebird Care Mid & West Cornwall 21 hours per week · £15.46–£15.66 per hour · Female applicants only (occupational requirement)

It's good to feel valued at work.

At Bluebird Care Mid & West Cornwall, we help people stay in the place they love most — their own home.

We are looking for a female Waking Night Care Assistant to support one customer with complex care needs in the Crantock area.

Nights can feel long when you live with complex needs. Having the same calm, familiar person there through them makes all the difference. That is this role. You will be awake and attentive through the night, so our customer feels safe, comfortable and properly cared for at home.

You do not need complex care experience. You need to be kind, calm and dependable. We will teach you the rest.

What you will be doing

  • Waking night support in the customer's own home
  • Personal care, given with dignity and respect
  • PEG feeding
  • Suctioning
  • Repositioning and settling the customer comfortably
  • Keeping an eye on comfort and wellbeing through the night
  • Responding calmly whenever the customer needs you
  • Keeping clear records and passing on anything the wider team needs to know
  • The training and support you will get

Our Registered Nurse oversees this package of care and will train you in every specialist task before you carry it out on your own. You will not be expected to work something out by yourself at three in the morning — there is always someone from the team at the end of the phone.

You will also get:

  • Full training for the role, including specialist complex care training
  • Regular contact and ongoing guidance from your local team
  • The chance to build real skills in complex care
  • A workplace where you are trusted, respected and appreciated

Hours and pay

  • 21 hours per week, waking nights
  • £15.46 per hour, weekday waking nights
  • £15.66 per hour, weekend waking nights

What we are looking for

We would love to hear from you if you:

  • Are kind, calm and dependable
  • Are confident working through the night
  • Can offer quiet reassurance and attentive support
  • Are willing to learn specialist care skills, including PEG feeding and suctioning
  • Hold a full UK driving licence and have your own car — there is no public transport to Crantock at these hours
  • Have the right to work in the UK

Previous complex care experience is welcome, but it is not essential.

What we offer

At Bluebird Care, we value and support our Care Experts. Benefits include:

  • Full induction and ongoing expert training
  • Specialist training and development
  • Extended specialist skills training, including PEG feeding and suctioning
  • Qualified Mental Health First Aiders
  • Blue Light Card
  • £100 Staff referral scheme
  • Annual appraisal recognition
  • Carer of the Month recognition
  • Team member wellbeing and support
  • Staff social activities
  • Charity and fundraising events
  • Ongoing development and career support

Before you apply

This is a female-only role under an occupational requirement

You must already have the right to work in the UK. We cannot offer visa sponsorship for this role

We may close this vacancy early if we find the right person
