Mel's Story
Prior to Bluebird Care, I was employed as a senior care worker in a large residential home for adults with Mental Health issues. I joined Bluebird Care Medway in January 2014 as a care assistant and went on become a care mentor and was awarded Spirit of Bluebird in March 2015.
In January 2016, I moved over to the Bluebird Care Swale team as a care supervisor as I wanted to progress with my career in the Healthcare sector. My role involved looking after all aspects of the Customers care, making sure they had everything in place to receive the care they needed
I now hold the role of Head Of Care and support, where I over see the office, this role places me right in the heart of the office where I am still involved in the care of all our Customers
I love my job role. I like being able to provide our customers with the excellent care that I would wish for my own parents and relatives.
Bex's Story
In May 2017 I became a Care Assistant after wanting to have a complete change of career, I felt I wanted to give something back, after experiencing looking after my Grandad since his health had declined, developing dementia and eventually going into a residential home. While visiting Grandad I saw how some people in residential care and in the community had nobody visiting them and were lonely.
I was really enjoying my role as a Care Assistant and felt as if I was making a real difference to people who needed care and companionship.
Unfortunately, due to ill health I had to give up caring, and on diagnosis it was found I had MS. The dream of being a Carer had come to an end
In October 2018 I started work in the Bluebird Care (Swale) office, Charmaine has given me the opportunity to not only return to work, but to still be able to contribute to supporting and caring for the community, as well as working alongside the Carers and Office Staff. It is this belief in my ability, and ongoing support that contributed to me receiving the monthly award for my hard work and support within my role, and to be awarded the Spirit of Bluebird Care Swale award at the Annual awards for my work and contribution was amazing. I love my job and I am happy to be back where I belong. This wasn’t the end of my Care career after all, although I still miss going out to care for others, but this is the next best thing and I am grateful for the opportunity.
