Vivienne's Story (Care Assistant):

Four years ago, I started my job as a care assistant with Bluebird Care Southampton. This was a massive change of career for me. For 15 years, I worked in the food retail sector. A friend of mine who already worked for Bluebird Care recommended that I make the leap and try working in health and social care, and I'm so glad I did! I love all aspects of my job. You see a different side to the job when you are in the shoes of a care assistant because it is not just about supporting customers with the daily tasks they struggle with, but it is also about being there for them emotionally and letting them know they can trust you. The staff here at Bluebird Care are excellent. The team in the field and the office support me when I need it and when I want it, even if it is for things that might seem small to others but big to me. There is no judgment. They listen & are there to support.

Becky's Story (Recruitment Manager):

When I left school, I did an apprenticeship in Business administration, where I worked in local government for 12 years. After supporting my Nan for some time, I decided I wanted a rewarding career, so I left and started my career as a Care Assistant working for another care provider in 2014. I quickly worked my way up to Care Coordinator. I joined Bluebird Care Southampton in September 2016 and haven't looked back. During my time here, I have been fortunate enough to complete diplomas in Health and Social Care levels 3 and 5. I have a wealth of knowledge from my experience in different areas: Coordinating, Live in Care, Registered Care Manager and, most recently, Recruitment Manager. I feel privileged to be part of such a wonderful team that strives for excellence and is dedicated to its customers and care staff.

Rose's Story (Care Coordinator to Business Development Officer):

After joining Bluebird Care Southampton in 2017 as a care supervisor with many years of care experience in nursing homes & community care. As a supervisor, I would be the first point of contact for customer enquiries. I would support new starters by arranging weekly supervisions to ensure they settled into their roles well and carry out risk assessments/write up care plans for new customers. I progressed into a care coordinator role, responsible for organising the rosters and ensuring calls were always covered. Most recently, I was the acting deputy manager for the Southampton team and would oversee the branch's day-to-day running. I have now stepped into the role of Business Development Officer, predominantly supporting branches in ensuring all enquiries are followed up, and that branch coordinators are managing their hours correctly. It is a great feeling to know that I'm trusted with a big role within the business. I am grateful to the team for their belief in me.
