Sophie Purdy
Care Coordinator

Sophie has been working in the care industry since she was 19 years old and has a lot of experience and knowledge and has an NVQ 2 in Health and Social Care.

Sophie started with Bluebird Care in April 2020 as a Care Assistant and in a short few months Sophie become the coordinator for Reading and Wokingham Branch at the beginning of July.

If you were to ask Sophie what she loves about her role she would say? ” Being close with all the carers, I am always in contact with my team and our customers and I love being able to support from all levels, doing care visits, supervisions and ensuring customers get continuity of care and the right care.

In Sophie’s spare time you may find her socialising with her friends and more than likely eating her favourite food, which is chicken, and of course from Nandos, Sophie also enjoys fun activates like top golf and flight club.

One thing people don’t know about Sophie is she was born blonde and she will say this might explain a few things.

 

Bronwen Clapham
Part Time Supervisor

Bronwen started working for Bluebird Care in 2017 at the North Wiltshire Branch, then moved to Reading in May 2020 when Bronwen joined Bluebird Care in Reading and Wokingham. Bronwen started as a carer. Within 4 months of Bronwen starting she became our new part time supervisor in September 2020 for our Reading and Wokingham Branch.

Bronwen has over 5 years of experience in the care sector and has her level 3 in health in Children’s care.

When we asked Bronwen, “what do you love about your role? She told us.

“I love that I am able to help people maintain their independence at home. I also love that my work role is so varied, and I am able to assist people when they need help the most”

 

A few things to know about Bronwen are, her favourite colour is red and whenever she has the chance, she will always want her Mums Fish Pie. Even though they don’t live far away, Bronwen said “it’s like a great big hug in a bowl”

In Bronwen’s spare time she enjoys reading and going for walks, she recently did a 15 mile walk for dementia UK, something that Bronwen is very passionate about, she also enjoys visiting new places so will always be up for an adventure.

One thing People don’t know about Bronwen, is she won young chef of the year in 2008! So we all know who is making the cakes from now on!

Gerly Tamm
Live in Care Supervisor

Gerly has been apart of Bluebird Care since 2015 and since joing us Gerly has developed multiple skills and worked her way to her becoming our new Live in Care Supervisor. 

If you asked Gerly what she loves about her role and working in Care, Gerly would say " I love the team I work with and that makes me happy. My role is so varied which I love and being able to support our community to stay in their own homes is what makes me so proud to be apart of Bluebird Care"

Gerly has son and two cat and in her spare time you will probably find Gerly in the Apple store as she loves her technology and when she is not buying the latest additions of Apple products Gerly likes to take short breaks away where she can unwind and relax. 

 

Victoria Brown
Recruitment and Marketing Coordinator

Victoria, aka Vicky has been working with Bluebird Care all together for 5 years. Vicky started as a carer 5 years ago and has developed amazing relationships with our carers and customers and has such a can do approach and is very positive. Vicky has always wanted to develop her career within Bluebird care, and in 2018 Vicky became a customer care champion, which meant Vicky was mentoring new staff, assessing customers’ needs and sharing ideas on how we can all improve.

Vicky started her new role in November 2020 and already delivering amazing results within her recruitment and marketing role.

If you asked Vicky what she loves about her role she would say “I am very much a people person and within my new role I’m always talking to new people and potential carers, it really helps that I have experienced care and can use it within recruitment to grasp if they have what it takes to work within our highly skilled team. I love the team around me, we are more a family than work colleagues”

If Vicky was to have her favourite food, it would be good old Nans recipe Beef stew and Dumplings. Fantastic in the winter months.

Vicky is married and has three children, a dog and a cat, to which they all keep Vicky very busy. As a family they enjoy walks and birdwatching as well as a love going to historic sites and places of interest.

In Vicky’s spare time when she is not working or being a busy mum to her three children Vicky really enjoys art, dancing and of course bingo!

One thing people don’t know about Vicky is she won Face of Berkshire 2010.

 

Kerry Brooker
Branch Manager

Kerry joined us in 2012 as a care assistant and was with us for four years before moving on to gain experience in a care home in South Oxfordshire. She returned to Bluebird Care Reading & Wokingham in January 2017 as a senior care assessor, and was promoted to Care Manager later in the year. 

Kerry has a wealth of experience in care and understands the importance of delivering quality care. She is a people person and has a passion to help.

What Kerry loves most about her role is the variety of customer and carer contact. The rewarding feeling when receiving a thank you for the work we all carry out and the support received from the whole team

Kerry lives in Reading with her partner and has 3 dogs which she adore and are a huge part of her family. Hobbies !!! Kerry doesn't really have any apart from reading and housework which she finds very therapeutic !

Jade Rose
Live in Care Manager

Jade is our Live in Care Manager and started with us as a carer in 2015. She quickly progressed and has worked as a care supervisor, care coordinator and deputy manager, showing passion and a drive to deliver quality care. Prior to joining Bluebird Care, Jade was a nursery assistant at a local nursery in Reading.

During the time Jade has been in the office, she has built a strong relationship with customers and carers to deliver a high standard of care within the area.

Jade is a great team player, loves supporting both our customers and carers and ensures quality of care is delivered at all times. Jade has been nominated for team member of the year twcie and on both occassions Jade has won, which is fantastic as these nominations are voted by our carers and customers. 

Jade lives in Reading with her partner and their two cats, and enjoys socialising with friends and travelling.

Angela McMillan
Support Supervisor

Angela is originally from Cambusnethan in Scotland and moved to Reading a few years ago. Angela is a person with one of the strongest work ethics you will ever meet. Angela cares passionately about her customers and always goes the extra mile to support the team.

Angela's role is to support both customers and carers at Bluebird Care. She regularly reviews to see how care is progressing as well as ensuring carers are maintaining the highest standards.

When we asked Angela what she loves most about her role she said " it is meeting new people and being able to help them do things that they would not normally be able to do" 

When Angela is not working, she loves spending time with her family where they have lots of adventures. Angela also loves visiting family in Scotland. 

Helen Mason
Finance Assistant

Helen started working for Bluebird Care as our new Finance Assistant on 10th November 2020. Helen is currently covering Adela who is on maternity leave. Helen has a wealth of knowledge and is currently studying my AAT level 3 accounting qualification.

Helen loves how varied the role is and working within a friendly team, helping to support the team as much as she can.

When Helen is planning on going out for a meal you may find her in a Mexican restaurant eating her favourite food.

Helen has been married for 12 years and has three children aged 11,8 & 5 who keep her very busy. Helen has a passion and love for baking, especially her children’s birthday cakes and she enjoys doing a lot of gym classes each week which helps counteract the baking!

One thing people don’t know about Helen is is has a degree in French and Information systems which involved her living in Paris for 5 months, in an office that had a view of the Eiffel Tower, how amazing is that! 

 

 

Adela Salapa
HR and Finance Administrator

Adela is orginally from Romania where she studied accountancy. Adela like meeting new people and finds it very rewarding when she can make someone smile. Adela is a very adaptable person who is open to new challenges. Over the last two years she has changed her role from numbers to people, and this brought Adela to Bluebird Care in 2018. Adela really enjoys her role as HR Administrator as she gets to work with people every day which is Adela's passion, everyday is different and each day gives her the opportunity to learn and develop her skills. Numbers are still calling her back, which makes her happy to be a-part of our finance team within Bluebird Care. 

In Adela's spare time and holidays she love traveling and being active, any sport is exciting for her even dancing which she enjoys very much. Adela is a very selfless person and will always ensure everyone else is ok and well. Adela loves her family and will always try to visit her sister and an amazing niece as much as she can. 

Adela nad her partner have just become parents for the first time to a beauitful little girl and Adela is now on maternity leave until August 2021

Alex Witten
Branch Manager Windsor, Maidenhead and Bracknell

Alex originally joined the team as a care assistant in 2009, and was quickly promoted to become the branch's supervisor. In 2014, Alex moved to Brighton and continued her career in care. She rejoined us in 2016 to become the Care Manager of our Windsor & Maidenhead branch. 

Since Alex ahs been with Bluebird Care she has been reconised and was a regional winner at the Great British Care Awards in 2019. 

During her time with Bluebird Care, Alex has grown into the role developing a strong relationship with customers and carers to deliver a high standard of care within the area. She has led the way in driving innovative changes to the business including the roll out of the revolutionary electronic care planning system called PASS. 

In her spare time, Alex enjoys going to festivals, meeting up with friends and spending time with her young family.

Jo McCluskey
Registered Care Manager

Jo McCluskey is currently the Registered Care Manager and Area Manager for Bluebird Care Reading and Wokingham.  She has a natural passion for quality of care and over the last 10 years has worked hard from being a support worker at Wokingham Borough Council to an award winning Registered Care Manager at Bluebird Care.

It was during her time at Wokingham Borough Council that Jo discovered her passion for a career in care. Working as part of the re-enablement team gave Jo a breadth of experience in caring for customers to regain their independence and skills after many had suffered strokes, falls and other illnesses.  

Her work in the re-enablement team resulted in Jo being promoted to Senior Support worker within the Dementia team at Wokingham Borough Council. In 2008, Jo left the council to work in the community in management roles for various care companies including Bluebird Care as a Deputy Manager.  

She excelled in her role which resulted in her gaining extensive management experience of a Learning Disabilities Home in Maidenhead for three years. In August 2013, we welcomed Jo back to the Reading and Wokingham as our Registered Care Manager.

In summary, Jo brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in the following areas:

When asked about why she returned to Bluebird Care recently by a customer she replied, I enjoy the variety and challenge of care in the community and that each day is different. I feel very passionate about making sure a high standard of care is delivered by our team and that our customers’ needs are met however big or small.   love the challenge of working towards goals and making a difference to both our customers and carers lives.

In her spare time Jo enjoys travelling, reading, especially biographies and learning about Ancient History including ancient Egypt, the Incas and Sumerians. She has set a personal goal to visit Egypt and see the pyramids in Cairo and the ancient temples along the River Nile.  

Jo loves spending quality time with her family and friends including her adorable grandson and can often be found catching the latest Hollywood blockbuster at the cinemas.

Rebecca Hawkins
Business Development Manager

Rebecca Hawkins, or better known as Becki, joined Bluebird Care in 2009 as a carer.  She has gone on to have a vaired and succesful career with the team, initially as a Co-ordinator for 4 years before moving in to the role of Deputy Manager for Reading in 2013. In 2014 she went on maternity leave and returned a year later to head up the Business Development side of the company.

Becki has a passion for customer service and ensuring Bluebird Care delivers the highest quality of care. Her experience, skills and flexibiltiy allow her to drive business improvement and initiatives across the organisation.  
In her sparetime, Becki spends time with her young family, visiting her parents in Gloucestershire and enjoys meeting friends for a good meal at a local pub. She also has a passion for horses and arts and crafts.

Mehul and Tushar Shah
Directors

Prior to starting Bluebird Care, Mehul worked in the City within Investment Banking and Finance, working for leading Global Investment banks. Within a short period of time, Mehul was given the opportunity and responsibility of managing the banks  extensive European Property portfolio as well as advising mutli-nationals on their mergers and acquisitions strategy.

Mehul has a passion for operational excellence, working with the team to ensure that the system and processes are in place to deliver quality care. Mehul takes the lead role within the management team to ensure that the team is meeting CQC standards and working with the managers to ensure that Bluebird Care is delivering quality of care at all times.

In his spare time he enjoys playing badminton, cycling, 5-a-side football (he's a huge Spurs fan!), playing the piano. Mehul loves travelling,  from relaxing on a beach to skiing in the Alps, plus exploring London’s wide range of restaurants.

Prior to launching Bluebird Care, Tushar worked at Mars Inc, working in a variety of management roles in IT, Commercial, Sales and Marketing. He was responsible for the management of Mars' European Advertising and Media Agency relationships.

Tushar's role within the team is business development. Working in partnership with the councils, CCGs and local charities, Tushar  works in identifying the challenges and putting in place sustainable long term solutions.

Tushar is also passionate about developing a culture of quality and excellence within the workforce and works with the managers to ensure that the training and values embedded in the team make a difference to our customers.

In his spare time, Tushar enjoys running, having recently completed the New York Marathon, competing in triathalons, travelling, photography and spending time with his young family.
