Meet our team of care professionals

Gary & Michelle Johnson

Gary has experience in managing and developing large teams of people working previously for national IT companies and is dedicated to developing a culture, where excellent customer service is paramount.
Michelle has a broad range of management experience, gained in the education sector. Holding a masters degree in Education she is passionate about quality. Michelle believes in developing people through training which she believes ensures the highest levels of quality and customer care.

Both have lived in East Sussex for over 25 years and are very proud to call the County their home. They are equally proud to have developed a family run business, run by local people, for local people.

Both are very active in the day-to-day running of the business and work alongside Claire Matthews, Registered Care Manager, for the Lewes District branch and Harriet Weaver, Care Manager, for the Brighton & Hove office. Together they make up the senior management team.

Harriet Weaver
Registered Care Manager - Bluebird Care (Lewes District, Brighton & Hove)

Harriet has over 8 years of experience working in the Care sector; formally as part of the NHS. Harriet has been part of the Bluebird Care team for a little over three years and has worked her way up from Support Supervisor, to Supervisor, Co-ordinator to Care Manager. Harriet is qualified to NVQ Level 5 in Health & Social Care. 
She is responsible for the efficient running of the business and managing the operations team and care workers in the Brighton & Hove and Lewes District Office (based in Hove and Newhaven), as well as looking after our customers. Responsible for compliance, recruitment and retention and the safe running of the service, Harriet reports to directly to Gary and Michelle Johnson who collectively make up the senior management team.

Harriet believes;

Jack Ottaway
Deputy Care Manager, Brighton & Hove and Lewes District

Jack started his care career with Bluebird Care almost 4 years ago. Prior to Bluebird Care he worked for his family’s metal business. Jack started in the field as  a carer.
Jack’s flare, focus and commitment have seen him progress from the role of carer to Support Supervisor and more recently to Supervisor and Care Co-ordinator and now Deputy Manager with a lead on co-ordination across both offices. He is qualified to Level 3 Health & Social Care and is currently working towards a Level 5 qualification.
Jack states;

Since being with Bluebird Care I cannot think of another career path I would want to go down. I get to meet some amazing people and help them to remain as independent as possible for as long as possible.

SJ Paradot
Live-in Care Manager (Lewes District, Brighton & Hove)

SJ started with Bluebird Care (Brighton & Hove) a carer in February 2016. SJ was new to the care industry and quickly found that there was a lot to learn in order to provide the standard of care which is required of a regulated care provider. SJ holds NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care.
Due to hard work, commitment and a passion SJ was awarded the role of Supervisor. Her role now is to assess new customers and look after existing customers and carers in the Hove area. SJ also manages the Company’s live-in care provision.

Fiona Ripley
Area Supervisor

Qualified to NVQ L2 in Health & Social Care Fiona has worked for Bluebird Care (Lewes District, Brighton & Hove) for nearly two years. She has been in the care industry for just over four years. Prior to working in the Supervisor role Fiona worked as a care worker in the Peacehaven, Saltdean and Lewes areas, she was promoted to Support Supervisor and has been successfully promoted to the role of Supervisor.

Fiona is now responsible for looking after customers and carers living and working in the Peacehaven, Saltdean, Rottingdean and Ovingdeanven areas. She is also one of our qualified trainers for moving and handling and medication administration.

Fiona states;

Tracy Wood
Area Supervisor

Tracy has a wealth of experience working in the domiciliary care sector. Qualified to L3 in Health & Social Care, a qualified trainer, she previously worked in a role as Care Manager overseeing our Brighton & Lewes District Office. She has now joined the Brighton team in her role as Supervisor and is looking after a number of customers in and round Brighton & Hove and is Supervisor to the care workers teams which support them.
Tracy feels;

Providing excellent quality care to our customers is very important to me, I am proud to be part of a great supportive team at Bluebird Care who all share the same passion and values which enables our customers to achieve their desired outcomes.
