Why I became a Bluebird Care assistant

Whether you have experience or not, we provide you with thorough training and offer ongoing support throughout your time with us.  Here are some of the teams journeys into care, in their own words.

Through COVID I was put on furlough and a family member who worked for Bluebird Care Cheshire West and Flintshire encouraged me to get in touch about a potential role with them. In my career I have worked in a care home many years previously but have been with my current company for over 20 years. It was a big change! I have been with Bluebird Care for well over a year now and I have had the best time, I’ve learnt new skills, gained qualifications and met some amazing clients and continue to do so. Also, I’ve made some fantastic and supportive friends that I work with. From my initial interview to now I feel I’ve been treated like an individual and valued. From my past experiences before Bluebird Care and from what I have learnt on the job, I can walk into the office and I’m always greeted with a smile and always thanked for any extra work I do and any help I offer. The office staff, all of them, were very supportive of my personal needs and the clients during COVID and at a moment’s notice were able to change my rota, and other members of the team, and followed up to make sure I had the help I needed. Nothing is too much trouble and if I have needed more or less hours, they will always try to accommodate my needs. The management team are very supportive of my work and my development. I would definitely recommend working for Bluebird Care, the staff and clients makes the job so rewarding, I feel I am contributing to the clients we look after, to their wellbeing, safety and making their day-to-day life enjoyable. It’s very rewarding.

Caring is not for everybody, however, during this pandemic which hit the country with great speed, it became more important than ever. The NHS was under pressure to save lives which had a knock-on effect on Care in the Community. It has been an amazing, sad, happy, fun and challenging time for everyone. I left Bluebird Care back in 2017 to pursue my mobile hairdressing business but when lockdown started I decided to contact Bluebird Care to see if I could help during this uncertain time. It was on April 4th that I restarted my journey. The experience certainly kept my mind and body on full power. It was lovely to see Irene who I worked with in 2017, Irene is now doing an amazing job in the office, which is a bee hive of activity. The carers I met were truly dedicated ladies as they kept on going day after day. I was planning to finish my time with Bluebird Care on June 7th as lockdown was slowly beginning to lift. Although this was the plan, I have enjoyed it so much that I continued to be a carer one day a week. I really enjoy seeing the customers and making a difference. If you are interested in becoming a carer then don’t hesitate to contact Rebecca in the office. Rebecca and the team will guide you through the process of what could be the start of a wonderful career.

We have lots of opportunities available and a variety of carers who have joined us from many different walks of life.  Get in touch if you think now is your time for change.
