Care Assistants

This role offers the potential for an amazing and fulfilling experience. Our care workers provide crucial care and support to customers in all aspects of their daily life. If you are dedicated and passionate about making a real difference to people’s lives and want a career you can be proud of, this could be the role for you.

Being a care worker for Bluebird Care gives immense job satisfaction. You will enjoy the special privilege of building unique trusting relationships with each of your customers.  Care workers enter the homes of customers from all walks of life, with different backgrounds and needs, lifestyles and personalities. Home means something different for each of us. Yet in most cases, it holds our special memories, perhaps our loved ones and the carefully chosen objects we treasure. Home represents who we are and who we wish to be.  Our care workers provide each customer with a bespoke care experience, to enable them to continue to enjoy fulfilling lives in their own homes, for as long as possible while promoting their independence.

This important role brings challenges as well as rewards. Our customers include people with a wide range of emotional and physical needs. You will need patience, compassion and an ability to listen well, so you can support customers to stay in touch with the things that really matter to them, even on the difficult days. Stamina to meet both the physical and emotional demands of providing care and support is also essential. You could be supporting a young person with a brain injury or a customer who is near the end of their life. The ability to think clearly in a crisis and to keep calm is necessary to provide the best care for our customers.

Our care workers are central to the Bluebird Care mission of providing the best homecare services to meet customer needs, whilst respecting their preferences.  We provide the training and practical supervision you need to do your job well.  We can also support the development of specialist expertise in your chosen area such as dementia.  This is an ideal opportunity if you wish to take a step into social care.  Bluebird Care offers a career pathway that can be tailored to your individual aspirations and goals.

You must be able to travel between customers’ homes, by providing your own transport.

As a representative of the Bluebird Care brand, you can be proud of being part of a strong supportive team, championing the rights of our customers.

Care Coordinator

The care coordinator is responsible for the continuity of care for all of our customers.  This vital role has a huge impact on the lives of many people who rely on our care and support. If you want to join a dynamic team making a positive difference to our customers’ lives, then this could be the role for you.

Customers tell us that what really matters to them is having a stable team of caring and professional care workers whom they can rely upon. Working alongside the care supervisor, the care coordinator will be responsible for making this happen. The ability to problem solve and think clearly when under pressure is essential for this important role in our company. You will use your excellent planning, organisational and IT skills to make sure that each customer receives the care and support that they expect on time. This involves:

  • Allocating care workers with the right skills and experience to deliver the best quality care and support to each customer
  • Organising care worker rotas to minimise changes to the service and travel between customer’s homes
  • Responding efficiently to day to day changes in the care and support packages

The role offers the opportunity for developing positive working relationships with customers, their families and the Bluebird Care team. You will provide a crucial link between each customer and their care worker. You will often deal with queries from customers about their care and support. This requires a sensitive understanding of customer needs and a supportive telephone manner.

The care coordinator must also be clear about the best way to work with care worker schedules to maintain continuity in the delivery of care. You will need to build strong relationships with the care team so you can call upon extra cover when needed.  In line with Bluebird Care policies you must be committed to anti-discriminatory practice and customer rights.

Care workers may work over the weekend or evenings so the post holder must be willing to be part of the on call emergency team rota.

This role offers a great step into social care and the opportunity to be part of a strong supportive team striving to provide the best homecare and support services.

Care Supervisor

The care supervisor is the critical link between the customer and our Bluebird Care service. You will use your skills of analysis to turn each customer’s requirements into a bespoke homecare service that exceeds their expectations. If you enjoy inspiring your team and providing the very best homecare and support to customers, then this exciting opportunity could be exactly what you are looking for.

As each customer is unique, every day will be different. Our priority is to support customers to live the lives that they choose, keeping them in control as far as they are able. You must have a good understanding of what people in need of homecare and support require, and of best practice in providing social care. Care supervisors will be expected to have, or to be working towards, a level 3 QCF (qualifications credit framework NVQ).

The care supervisor is responsible for setting up the care plan for each customer and  making sure we deliver what we promise. This involves visiting new customers, and where they wish it, their families, to create a tailored care and support plan.   Together with the care coordinator you will find a care worker with the right skills, knowledge and personal attributes to match the customer’s requirements. The supervisor will then introduce the care worker to the customer and keep the customer up to date with any changes.

Excellent communication skills are key to this vital role. You must be able to build trusting relationships with customers, their families, staff and other professionals such as district nurses, GPs and occupational therapists. The care supervisor has responsibility for taking new care workers through the induction process and providing on-going guidance, training and supervision. You will often find yourself in the role of assessor, mentor, coach and trainer.

Care supervisors need to be compassionate and self-assured, and have the knowledge and ability to model good practice whilst being prepared to challenge poor performance. You will regularly monitor the quality of service that your team of care workers provide and take action to make improvements if necessary.

Care workers may work over the weekend or evenings so care supervisors must be able to work flexibly. You will need to be able to travel between customers’ homes by providing your own transport.

This is a challenging role and as a representative of the Bluebird Care brand you can be proud of being part of a strong supportive team, championing the rights of our customers.

Live-in Care Asssistant

Being a live in care worker offers a real sense of purpose and immense job satisfaction. Our customers will rely upon you for support with all aspects of their daily living. So, if you are dedicated and passionate about making a real difference to people’s lives and want a career you can be proud of, this could be the role for you.

The role of a live in care worker is similar to other care workers with one notable exception, you are not a visitor, but a key part of the household. You will enjoy the special privilege of living in a customer’s home. You will use your excellent communication skills to build unique relationships with people from all walks of life; with different backgrounds and needs, lifestyles and personalities, cultures and behaviours.

Our live in care workers provide each customer with a bespoke care experience tailored to their specific needs and preferences. The service gives customers the reassurance of 24 hour support in the comfort of their own homes. However, live in care workers are not expected to be continuously on duty for 24 hours, you will have pre-arranged rest periods each day.

This important role brings challenges as well as rewards. You will need patience, compassion and an ability to listen well, so you can support customers to stay in touch with the things that really matter to them, even on the difficult days.

Live in care workers need stamina and emotional resilience. You may be providing care and support to a customer who is dying, a brain injured young person, or someone whose medical condition makes their behaviour challenging. You could walk into a person’s home and find that they have fallen, are in tears, or has been incontinent, so you should be prepared for the unexpected. The ability to remain calm, reassure customers and be responsive is essential. You will need the ability to think clearly in a crisis and know when to seek further help and advice.

Knowledge and experience of social care is definitely an advantage, but not always necessary as we provide full training. We can also support you to develop specialist expertise in your chosen area such as dementia.
The most important quality you need to bring is an empathy and understanding about the conditions of customers and the impact on their loved ones. You must want to provide a standard of care that is good enough for your own family. This means valuing the unique qualities of each customer and seeing the whole person, not just a list of care needs. It is essential that you respect the dignity and rights of each customer and endeavour to support them to make their own decisions about all aspects of their care and support as far as they are able.

This is an ideal opportunity if you wish to take a step into social care. As a representative of the Bluebird Care brand, you can be proud of being part of a strong supportive team, championing the rights of our customers.

A calm manner and the ability to think clearly whilst under pressure are essential for this important role.

You will also need to apply the principles of good care management and use your exceptional organisational skills together with a high level of accuracy to ensure the efficient running of the company.  Your excellent people skills will:
